Fighting to get Britain working8.59.00am GMT Wed 3rd Feb 2010 With 5,359 people in Plymouth's Devonport and Sutton constituencies claiming Jobseeker's Allowance, it's time for real change. Thousands of young people across the country are being trapped in unemployment queues by Labour's recession and 'red tape state'. Latest figures show that youth unemployment is at its highest level for 15 years. Prospects for young people are even worse than they were under the last Conservative Government. Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg MP has launched a new plan to make sure every local young person has the chance of either a job, a paid training place or an apprenticeship. They also want to create a new green economy that will generate thousands more new jobs. Local campaigner Stuart Bonar said, "Labour is trapping a generation of young people on the dole. It is just not good enough. We must give all young people a real chance to get off to a good start in life. "The Lib Dems and I are working to give unemployed people a real chance to get back to work." Lib Dem tax plans mean that once people are working, they will also be able to keep more of the money they earn. The Lib Dems want to scrap income tax on the first £10,000 of earnings - putting more cash back into the pockets of local people." You can join the campaign at http://www.nickclegg.com/lostgeneration
